Interview Kyle Oliveras
I have been following Kyle for a while and he has been very successful in
Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling and Judo. He has beaten some of the top
Jiu-Jitsu guys from Kauai and this week we speak with the phenom.
KMA-First of all you have been successful if wrestling, Judo as well as
Jiu-Jitsu. How do you think all these arts go together? How long
have you been wrestling and doing Judo?
I'm doing Judo and Wrestling to help and improve my jiu-jitsu. Judo helps
with the gi takedowns alot. Wrestling helps with the aggressiveness,
stamina, no-gi takedowns, and helps me get a lot stronger. I have been
wrestling since my freshman year in high-school which was 4 years ago, but i
have just been competing for about 2 years (freshman, and senior year). I
started judo about 5 years ago, stopped after about a year, and then just
came back to compete in high school judo this year.
KMA-What are your plans in Jiu-Jitsu? Are you planning on going to the
Pan-Am's or worlds some day?
My plan and goal for jiu-jitsu is to someday become a black belt world champion, and compete in
an Abu Dhabi.
KMA-What about MMA? Do you have any interest in doing that?
For interest in MMA, all i want to do is maybe try it once.
I'm not really interested in doing that.
KMA-What do you think of Kauai Jiu-Jitsu? How do they compair with the rest of the state?
I think that Kauai jiu-jitsu is
one of the best in the state, i mean you have schools like Kamole, and
Longman Jiu-jitsu. I have competed against people from both of those
schools, and there really really tough.
KMA-Anything you would like to say to the readers on Kauai?
There's not really much you can
say. You just have to see them for yourself. I want to encourage all of
you in Kauai that has some interest in jiu-jitsu, to join a school in
Kauai.
For jiu-jitsu is one of the most addicting, and fun things to do in this
world.
