KMA-First of
all Jeremy where are you from? I never heard of
you before until your incredible fight in Icon.
Jeremy-I'm from Long Beach, Ca. I've rested my head all over the
country. I'm currently living Granada Hills, Ca.
KMA-What is you martial arts experience?
Jeremy-Tae-Bo from the Ghetto!!!! Also Black Belt theatre on Saturday mornings! LOL... I've been boxing since I was seven years old. I had around 180 amateur fights and about 50 professional fights.
KMA-Who do you train with now?
Jeremy-I train with
a bunch of great fighters out of Legends gym in Hollywood, California.
I pick up what I can from each individual guy. I'll name a few and
sorry if I forget any...Chris Reilly(my muay-thai coach), Mac Danzig,
Karo Parisyan, Quentin Jackson, Randy Couture, Aerial Mastov, Jason
Miller, Tait Fletcher, and a bunch of other guys who are up-n coming
fighters
KMA-You
seem to fight with a lot of intensity and you seem
to be that rare type of fighter who is willing to throw caution to the
wind and take chances. In a time where a lot of fighters seem to
fight
not to lose this is refreshing. When Ron had you in those
guillotines and triangles you just powered out of the
submission attempts. Did he ever have you in trouble?
Jeremy-Hell yeah...that shit hurt! Up until that point, I had never
even been taught the proper way to get out of an armbar. The only
thought that crossed my mind was when my buddy Quentin picked up some
dude and dropped him on his head...I figured I'd try that, but it didn't
turn out the way I had hoped. Come to find out, Quentin picked that guy
up from a triangle, not an armbar!)
KMA-You
definitely seemed to be the stronger guy in that
fight. How do you think your strength compare to other fighters in
your weight class?
Jeremy-I'm pretty
strong, but not like most the guerillas I roll with. Trust me, you'll
feel like a child after trying to wrestle with Rampage...that guy is
insanely strong! Boxing was all finesse and technique. I've never had
to muscle my way through anything.
KMA-How
far do you want to go in MMA? Do you want to be Icon
champ, do you want to fight in the UFC?
Jeremy-I want to do it all. I don't want to just be light heavy champ of Icon, I want to be the champion of the world. I want to be the iron man of blood sports(boxing, muay-thai, MMA).
KMA-Fighting means different
things to different people,
what is your philosophy in fighting?
Jeremy-No philosophy for me...it's just a way of life. It's how I
feed my family.
KMA-What
are some things you feel you need to work on to get
to the next level in MMA?
Jeremy-My ground game. I'm finally putting the time in that I should
and really taking grappling serious. I've been working everyday with
Mac Danzig and I'm starting from scratch trying to erase all bad
habits. Mac is a great teacher and one hell of a strong grappler. I
learn something new everyday and I'm thankful I have guys around
like Mac and Chris Reilly that are willing to put the time in and help
me in the areas I'm weak.)
KMA-What
is a typical week look like in your training
schedule?
Jeremy-I wake up between
4;30 and 5:00 everyday. I take a five mile run, come home and take my
kids to school...drive to the gym and teach a 8;30 boxing class, I train
from 10 to 12 with Karo Parisyan or Chris Reilly, I drive back over the
hill to teach my 1:00 class, go back to Legends @3:00 to train with Mac,
then I spar and work technique between 4 and 6, than I go home.)
KMA-What are some of your other hobbies besides MMA?
Jeremy-I'm a family man...I love chillin with my kids and wife. Oh
yeah, I like to bake too. People don't believe me, but it's my way of
relaxing. I can't always eat the shit I bake, but I enjoy doing it.)
KMA-With
your explosive style you will undoubtedly have a
lot more fans as you fight more. Anything you want to say to the Hawaii
MMA fans?
Jeremy-I tell you what, the fans in Hawaii are some of the coolest people in the world. You guys appreciate the kind of fighter I am and I'm gonna try my best to go out and put on an exciting show. Don't worry, I plan on 2007 being a knockout highlight reel for Jeremy Williams. Thanks for all your support.
