Interview with Jason Chambers, host of "The Human Weapon"

KMA-Hey Jason, thanks
for taking the time to do this interview. You must be a very busy guy,
what are you doing now or what do you have
planned in the near future?
Jason- I am getting ready to go to Cambodia and Malaysia this Sunday to
film the last 2 episodes of Season 1. With such a hectic shooting
schedule It's hard to have time for anything else.
KMA-I have seen "The
Human Weapon" and I have to say it has exceeded all of my expectations.
I enjoy the back ground you give on the diverse cultures, the history of
the fighting arts, and the respect you give to the martial arts masters.
I am also impressed how you and your
co-host have a fight with experts in the arts you cover. How would
you describe your experience on the show?
Jason- Painful. (laughs) Actually it has
been a great time, I mean honestly how could I complain? I get to travel
around the world and get beat up by such a wide range of people. Aside
form the shooting , which can be horrendous (sometimes 16 hours a day) ,
the show has been a journey thru the history and culture of these
various arts.
KMA-Out of all
of your shows what was you most challenging episode?
Jason-Different episodes pose different
challenges...from a physical
standpoint the Marines episode shoot was exceptionally challenging.
The stuff these guys do on a daily bases with all that gear is
amazing! I walked away from that with a whole new respect form our
Marines. The episode that I think stands out in my mind the most is
our pilot episode (Thailand) .,.. being the first episode we didn't have
a firm grasp on what every episode needed as far as shoots,
content, training, etc. so we would shoot and shoot and shoot. That
episode took 13 days to film and the heat in Thailand was crazy. We
are talking 104 with 100 percent humidity. Makes for a long day.
KMA-I did some
research and you have an impressive record in MMA. You have finished
most of your fights and you have done so in a lot of
different ways. What is your martial arts experience?
Jason-I did Tae- Bo for many
years...recently Billy Blanks made me a Grand Master so now I can defeat
all.
Ok, not really. But I have an
instructorship in Jeet Kune Do Concepts
from Joe Goytia and a Brown belt in BJJ under Eddie Bravo.
KMA-You are a very
busy person, it must be hard to find time to train. If you had
time to train would you be interested in fighting MMA
again?
Jason-Hell yeah! Everyone in my acting life
hates the idea - but its hard
to get away from the competition . The high you get when you win a
fight is unsurpassed.
KMA-I looked at your
website and I see a lot of modeling pictures. Are
you ever afraid that your handsome mug might get rearranged?
Jason- Funny enough I was even uglier than this- I've been hit in the
face so many times that I got luck enough to have it rearranged to look
better.
KMA-Are you interested in doing movies or
other ventures in the future
related to martial arts?
Jason-That's the idea. We are working
getting me into Comedy /Action films... or things like the Marvel Comic
book stuff that we see today.
KMA- I know you fought in Icon. How did you like
Oahu. Have you been to
any of the other islands?
Jason-Hawaii is everything its cracked up to be. This Haole boy
approves!
KMA-Hawaii has a long history in martial arts. Per
capita not many places have as many martial artist as we do. Are you
familiar with the
Hawaiian martial art Lua? Lua has some aspect of other martial arts
such as Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Aikido and Karate.
Jason-Cant say that I am ... I have heard
of it but I am not that familiar.
That's what the show is for though- to help get me ...and everyone "in
the know!"
KMA-If you any say in the matter do you think
having a Human Weapon
episode on Kauai with a Lua master would be a good show?
Jason- Dude- if I can come back to Hawaii...I'll do a show on eating
pineapples.
KMA-Where can we get more information on future
"Human Weapon" shows?
Jason- www.myspace.com/JasonChambers or check out the history channels
website!
KMA-Any last message you would like to say to your
fans in Hawaii and
around the world?
Jason-Thanks for watching and support your local MMA fighters!!!!
Except Mayhem Miller....he's just crazy and he has enough support.
