Interview with Nestor Honorato

KMA-We're here today with Nestor Honorato, Nestor good
win.
Nestor-Thank you
KMA-You had to overcome a lot of adversity in that
fight. You were in an armbar, he had your back, take us through that fight.
Nestor-He got me in a full mount so I didn't want him to get into a position
to punch me so I gave him my back, I tried to fight him from there. He tried
for a rear naked choke, I defended that then he went for an arm bar and I
was able to scoop his legs over to pass.
KMA-Did you feel like you were in danger with those
submissions?
Nestor-No not really, I had him under control, I just needed time to counter
the submissions which I did.
KMA-Your opponent seemed to come on really strong in
the beginning but seemed to fade as the fight wore on. Did he seem to tire
as the fight progressed?
Nestor-Yes, we were both tired but I felt like I was stronger than him and I
used that to my advantage. I kept pressuring him with punches and kicking,
getting him more tired with the pressure.
KMA-I have to say, I've seen you about a year ago when
we were in that amateur fighting event and you look really good now. I've
heard you really dedicated yourself to your fighting now.
Nestor-Yes, I've been working hard on my cardio, I also worked hard on the
ground, the takedown defense. The cardio did help a lot in this fight.
KMA-Yeah that was a grinding fight!
KMA-I heard a rumor that you will be fighting in
Molokai, is this true, do you know anything about the event?
Nestor-Yes, i will be fighting on the April 12th. Dave just let us know a
couple of days ago about this fight, he wanted us to concentrate on this
fight first.
KMA-Do you know of any other Kauai fighters in that
event?
Nestor-Yes, Chucky Rapozo, Isaac Josiah, that's about it that I know of.
KMA-Do you have any last words for friends, family,
sponsors?
Nestor-I like to thank the fans and friends for supporting me. Quick Silva
Boxing and Ainofea, Connect, and as a whole Kauai for supporting MMA.
KMA-Thank you for your time.
