Chris Lytle is a fellow fire-fighter and a UFC veteran who has fought some of the biggest names in MMA which include Karo Parisysian, Robbie Lawler, and Hawaii's Ronald Jhun. He is also a pro boxer who had a huge win earlier this year.
I just heard a rumor that Chris has been let go by the UFC because of the influx of 170 lbs. fighters from last seasons Ultimate fighter show. I find this to be really sad as Chris is a humble, classy family man who also has a career in helping people at the worst times. I also find it ironic that Chris can probably beat most, if not all of the TUF contestants.

KMA-First talk about yourself and your non fighting hobbies, and career.
Chris-I have 4 kids so most of my time is spent outside of training is with them. It's just so cool to see them learn something new or just grow up. I think most men don't get to spend that time with the kids and it's really a sad thing. When it gets late and the kids go to bed, I love to go out and play poker. I play whenever I can. A few times I've been out all night playing and just go straight to work afterwards. I'm so tired at the firehouse just hoping I can rest at some point. But that is the exception with the fire dept. I'm usually very prepared to go and ready to do whatever it takes for everything to get done. I love coming to work.
KMA-What do your fellow firefighter say about your fighting? Some of my
friends at work make fun of me that I am a closet gay because I like to roll around with other men.
Chris-My dept. is real cool. Everyone supports me and comes to the fights when they are close to here. If they watch a fight that is on the ground for a while, they may say some stupid comments that. They like the stand up wars. Lots of blood things like that.
KMA-I heard you recently had a huge Pro Boxing match against Omar Pittman
via TKO. Did the fight go as planned?
Chris-Not at all. The guy was much better than I thought, harder to land a clean shot on. In the first round, we butted heads and I got a big gash on my head. My legs were never really the same after that. Right at the start of round 2 I got dropped. It was the first time in boxing I'd ever really been down, but it was just a punch I didn't see and I was fine. Then I started using my head and just wore the guy down. I pushed him around and banged his body until he had nothing left. It was a good victory.
KMA-What are your goals in Pro Boxing?
Chris-I want to fight for a title sometime. I just keep stepping up in the level of competition and hope I can keep winning. Boxing is a strange sport. Some people will fight all guys with losing record to get to 20-0 and then fight a good fight and get KO'd. I'm not trying to be like that.
KMA-You have some pretty well rounded skills, you have won via TKO and
submission in MMA. Talk about your training.
Chris-Boxing has made me well rounded. I do stand up almost everyday. We don't do much ju-jitsu, everything is applicable to MMA fighting. It's like ju-jitsu but without a gi and you
always have to be looking for strike. When to throw them and how to avoid them. Everything we do is like it would be in a real fight.
KMA-You beat Hawaiian fighter Ron Jhun in his UFC debut. What did you
think of his skills?
Chris-First of all, Ron seemed like one of the coolest guys in the sport. The first day I saw him, he came up and talked to me and was real nice. Some guys try to act like we have to be
enemies before the fight. That's not professional. I've watched many of his fights and I know he is very skilled all around. Good subs, good punches, good take downs. It was hard to train for because I had to train at everything. I was so happy when I caught him in a move and the fight was over. He's got heart and skills so I'm sure he'll be back.
KMA-Have you ever been to Hawaii? Would you like to fight in one of the
promotions there?
Chris-Are you kiddin? I would love to fight there. I've had a few times when I was suppose to fight there and it fell through. It will happen sometime and I'm already looking forward to it.
KMA-Anything you want to say to the readers in Hawaii?
Chris-Just to guys there are lucky to have so many good fights and show around you.
That's a great thing. Take advantage and go see some great fights. I have nothing but respect for you and I can't wait until I can come and try to show my skills the the people there.
